Camping at the edge of the earth

We just arrived in Lunenberg and are still in awe at our camping experience the other night. (We are excited to tour Lunenberg but need to play catch-up on our last experience) We had just spend the day touring the West side of Breton Highlands State Park along the Cabot Trail. We saw two bald eagles and amazing coastal scenery. Steph and Dad - you would not have liked the heights involved! We were getting tired and ready to find our resting place for the night. We decided to drive up a twisty, windy unpaved road to Meat Cove, the Nothern-most community in Nova Scotia. We got there and we were just amazed at how the mountains butted right up against the ocean and the campsites were small grassy tiered platforms that overlooked the cove. The owner (who had lived there all his life) showed us around and let us choose our campsite. At night we had a small campfire and could see every single star in the sky, even the milky way galaxy and the orbiting satellites, just amazing. The next morning we took a 15 minute hike up to the adjacent ridge where moose and deer frequently visited. As we decended it began to rain and we sadly left meat cove to make our way back down the East side of the Cabot Trail and down to Lunenberg.
